The reason I ask is because if you search for a tag on Medium, there are 73 or so topics that have 'Top Writers' and a quick follow option right there in the topics.

I notice that in stats emails I’ve seen from other writers that there’s a line at the bottom which shows where people are following you from, and I’ve seen lots coming from 'because you are a top writer in X'
